Sumit Madan appointed MD & CEO of Axis Max Life Insurance

Axis Max Life Insurance, a key player in India’s fast-growing life insurance sector, has appointed Sumit Madan as its new Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO). Madan, who brings more than two decades of insurance leadership experience, has worked extensively across distribution, operations, strategy, and customer solutions.

His elevation marks a critical step in strengthening the Axis–Max Life partnership, especially around bancassurance, customer-centric innovation, and digital distribution. In his new role, Madan will expand Axis Max Life’s footprint by building innovative products that meet the evolving needs of India’s young, tech-savvy population, while also ensuring compliance with changing regulatory frameworks.

As MD & CEO, he will oversee strategy, business development, and governance, reporting directly to the board. His priorities include embedding technology in customer engagement, enhancing claim settlement efficiency, and diversifying distribution channels to ensure growth resilience. With life insurance increasingly playing a central role in financial planning and wealth protection, Madan’s leadership is expected to accelerate the company’s market share growth, strengthen customer trust, and position Axis Max Life as a leader in innovation-driven insurance solutions.
