Verizon Communications Inc.has announced the appointment of
Daniel H. Schulman, Independent Lead Director and former CEO of PayPal Holdings Inc.,
as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. This leadership
transition marks a pivotal moment in Verizon’s journey toward enhanced customer
focus, financial growth, and sector leadership.
Welcoming Schulman to the role, Bertolini stated: “Dan is a
seasoned and decisive leader with a unique set of experiences and a proven
record of transformative leadership and operational excellence. He is the right
leader to chart Verizon's next phase of increased customer focus and financial
growth.”
Schulman brings a distinguished track record of financial
and operational leadership across telecommunications, technology, and financial
services. As CEO of PayPal, he led the company’s transformation into a global
payments platform, tripling revenue from $8B to $30B, growing EPS five-fold,
and adding hundreds of millions of users worldwide. His career includes senior
roles at AT&T, Priceline, Virgin Mobile, and American Express, where he
drove significant growth and innovation.
Having served on Verizon’s Board since 2018 and elected Lead
Independent Director in December 2024, Schulman expressed his enthusiasm: “I
