Signify appoints Tempelman as CEO

Signify (formerly Philips Lighting) has appointed As Tempelman as its Chief Executive Officer, effective September 1, 2025, succeeding interim CEO Zeljko Kosanovic. Tempelman most recently led Eneco, where he championed the energy company’s sustainability push and large-scale renewables strategy. At Signify, he inherits a portfolio spanning professional lighting systems, consumer brands (including Philips-licensed products), and connected lighting platforms such as Interact. The brief is clear: steady margins in a cyclical hardware market while accelerating profitable growth via energy-efficient LEDs, smart/IoT solutions, and circularity (repairable, upgradeable products). With lighting at the center of building decarbonization, Tempelman is expected to deepen partnerships with cities, infrastructure owners and large enterprises focused on energy savings and regulatory compliance. Board focus areas include disciplined cost control, supply-chain resilience, and software-enabled services. Kosanovic continues until the handover.
